2009 Dinner Gala at The Oheka Castle
The foundation’s most ambitious undertaking thus far has been its annual dinner gala, a large-scale event that takes place every year in early spring. The event includes dinner, dancing, a silent auction and Chinesse raffles. All proceeds of which benefit Dr. Jose G. Guillem’s research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Our honorary guest speaker this year was Dr. Stuart H.Q. Quan, an Emeritus Attending Surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Quan was the pioneer in improving patient treatment for rectal cancer in the 1950's with the technique still being used today.
In 2009, during our second annual dinner gala The De Rosa Foundation raised over $135,000 for colon cancer research. Our organization continues to evolve and expand. Through the benevolence of our contributors, we are able to continue the fight against colon cancer and the goal of attaining a cure. In 2009, the event was held on March 20th at the Oheka Castle, Huntington, New York.
